About Travel Therapist Club

Travel Therapist Club is a set of issues and guides on pay, housing, contracts and life on the road for travel PTs, OTs and SLPs, and it is published by a travel therapy staffing agency. This page says who that publisher is, what the club is and is not, where its facts come from and how they stay current, and who to contact.

What is Travel Therapist Club?

The club is written for physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists who travel or are weighing a contract, and for the assistants who work alongside them. Each issue takes a subject travelers argue about, such as what makes a tax home, how a housing stipend is capped, what happens when a facility cancels a contract, or what agency benefits are worth, and walks through it in plain language. Newer guides cover an emergency fund, your retirement savings when you change agencies, and health insurance between contracts.

If you want to know what to read first, the start here page lists the pieces in order. This page answers a different question: who stands behind the club, and how what it says is kept honest.

Who publishes the club?

The club is published by a travel therapy staffing agency, and you should know that before you read a word it says about agencies or pay. ProTherapy Staffing, which publishes this site, has been PT-owned and operated since 2012.

That sentence is the whole of what this page claims about the publisher. The request forms on the club go to the publisher’s recruiters, and the card and the bar at the foot of each page that point to open jobs are the publisher’s own. The club carries no advertising and no paid placements from any other company.

What is the club not?

It is not a job board. The club lists no contracts of its own. When you want open contracts, the job alerts page and the request forms are the way in, and both belong to the publisher.

It is not a ranking of agencies. No issue scores agencies or puts them in order, and the club does not set its publisher against anyone else. Where an issue talks about agencies, as the benefits issue does, it tells you what to ask any agency for in writing.

It is not tax, legal or financial advice. The tax home issue and the stipend issue explain the rules the IRS publishes and link them, but your own return turns on facts that only you and a tax professional can weigh. Read the issues as explanation, then check the rule where it is set.

When you would rather have a contract than another issue to read, tell a ProTherapy recruiter what you want next: Find my next contract.

Where do the club’s facts come from, and how do they stay current?

The issues are written, and where a rule decides the answer they link the agency that sets it, usually the IRS or the General Services Administration. A few parts are filled in from data files that carry their sources, so they change when the source changes rather than when someone remembers to edit them:

Some issues, such as the pay snapshot and the cancellations issue, draw on what travelers and recruiters report. They say so where they do, and that is reported experience, not a data set. Rules that change each federal fiscal year, such as the GSA per diem rates, belong on the official page, so check the current rate there before you rely on an older figure.

Who do you contact?

To reach a person, call or text the business line on the publisher’s contact page, which also takes a written message. If something on the club looks wrong, such as a rule that has changed or a source that no longer says what an issue quotes, name the page and the line when you send it.

If you would rather have contracts come to you, the job alerts page emails new contracts in your discipline, daily or weekly, in a state you pick or anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is Travel Therapist Club run by a staffing agency?

Yes. The club is published by a travel therapy staffing agency, named on this page, and its request forms go to that agency’s recruiters. A request you send goes to that agency and no other.

Does any company pay to appear in the club?

No. The club carries no advertising and no paid placements from other companies. The card and the bar at the foot of each page that point to open jobs are the publisher’s own.

How do I know whether an issue is still current?

Check the updated date at the top of the issue, which moves only when the page’s content changes, and the source the issue names. For a rule that changes each year, such as the federal per diem rates, read the current figure on the official page.
